Stop limit orders become limit orders when triggered, executing only at a price equal to or better than the limit price. Besides these two most common order types, brokers may offer a number of other options, such as stop-loss orders or stop-limit orders. I suppose the difference could be the fact that before the stop-limit order is executed, it is a different type of order, but I don't see how there's a functional difference.
